The Herriman Mountain Bike Team started with a simple belief: that the sport of mountain biking—its climbs, its challenges, its community—is one of the best tools we have for developing young people of character.
We’re a team for any student in grades 7–12 who wants to push their limits, make great friends, and spend their afternoons on trails instead of couches. Over 100 Mustangs strong, we draw riders from Herriman High School and its feeder junior highs—all skill levels, all backgrounds, all welcome.
As a sanctioned member of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) and an affiliate of the Utah High School Cycling League, we compete in Region 4—racing across Utah from the north at venues like Snowbasin to trails in the south like St. George. But the program is about much more than racing. It’s about what happens between the races: the early-season skills nights, the Saturday trail work days, the post-practice chocolate milk, the inside jokes that form over hundreds of miles of riding together.
Our coaches are parent volunteers—trained and background-checked through NICA—who give their evenings and weekends because they believe in what this program does for kids. Our team directors organize the logistics so riders and families can focus on the good stuff. And our parent community makes race day feel like a tailgate, a parade, and a finish-line party all rolled into one.
