General Questions
Yes. Each parent is asked to join a Parent Volunteer Team and contribute about 5 hours over the season. If you’re already a ride leader, your time commitment may be less.
Additionally, the NICA league requires one volunteer shift per rider per season on race days.
Practices are twice a week (Monday and Thursday) and last about 1.5 hours. There are occasional Saturday practices, mostly to pre-ride race courses.

POYO means Practice on Your Own. Even though we do what we can throughout the week with our riders we encourage them to get out on Saturdays and get extra time on their bikes. This can simply be around your neighborhood or on trails. Please keep safety in mind when riding and take someone else with you if you plan to hit the trails.
Registration Questions
No. Watch for next year’s registration in the spring.
After completing Step 1 registration, expect an email within 1–3 days, but it could take up to a week depending on payment processing times. Please be sure to check your promotion/junk/spam folders. If it’s been a full week, contact the registration director or message a coach on TeamSnap/
Make sure Step 1 is complete. Access is granted within 3-7 days.
Check email and spam within 1–7 days after Step 1 has been completed.
NICA has a refund policy that you can access on the Resources Page here.
There shouldn’t be, but if you’re asked for one, check your registration confirmation email.
Yes, we have one preview session before registration closes each year. Unfortunately once registration closes, NICA policies and insurance doesn’t allow for non-team members to participate other than as a spectator.
Yes! Our kit partner, Hyperthreads attends our Kickoff meeting each spring and brings kits for you to try. If you miss that meeting, you can visit Hyperthreads in Ogden, or use their sizing guide on their website.
Unfortunately no, because they’re customized, and not resalable by Hyperthreads, all kit sales are final.
Hyperthreads doesn’t offer exchanges- this is why we recommend attending the Kickoff meeting to get sized. Order carefully!
The current team jersey is required by the league. Other items are optional, but we do recommend the full kit, and most athletes and family members who don’t order hats, t-shirts, etc. end up wishing they had. Note that the Team Store is only open for a limited time, so don’t wait. Once the season starts, it will be too late to place orders for team kit and other clothing/items.
After completing Step 1 via TeamSnap, you’ll have access to the calendar. Dates and times will be updated there as the season progresses. In general, practices are held Monday and Thursday evening.
Race dates are posted on Utah High School Cycling League here. We’re in Region 4.
You must do this yourself in TeamSnap.
All team communication is via TeamSnap (email + notifications). You’ll get the hang of it, promise!
This happens with multiple riders in your family, or because of multiple roles (like ride leader) in TeamSnap. Sorry!

Race Day
Right here on our Race Info page!
Check the race flyer for each race- it will have start times, call up times, etc. Generally, High School will race in the morning and JD will race in the afternoon.
90 minutes before your start time.
Your total time will depend on time spent supporting teammates, serving in the volunteer roles you choose, and racing time (which itself can last 30–90 minutes).
Locations will be provided in the race flyer but each athlete is responsible for their own transportation. We recommend carpooling where possible.
A pre-ride is an opportunity to ride the course prior to race day so that you become familiar with the trail, location, etc. Some will be done as a team, others will be done individually. Note that the courses are open fro pre-rides ONLY to athletes and coaches and they must have their pre-ride plates displayed at all times. In addition, the course is only open during specific timeframes for pre-rides and both the athlete and team may be penalized for breaking those times.
